Home Visits

Home visits on weekdays should be requested by telephoning the practice between 8.30am and 10.00am whenever possible.  We will phone you back following your request to establish if a house call by the GP is required or if another course of action may be more appropriate.

Home visits are usually made between 10.30am and 1.00pm.

If you think that your problem requires immediate attention, please make this clear at the time of your request.

When you request a home visit the admin team member will ask you for:

  • patients full name and date of birth
  • patients home address and the address to be visited if different
  • contact telephone number
  • your details if not the patient
  • brief details of illness and reason for home visit

This information is required to help the doctor plan and prioritise the home visits and will be treated in confidence.

Home visits use up our most valuable resource - time - and should only be requested when the patient is unfit to attend the surgery, where we have better examination and treatment facilities.
